Portfolio > Murals & Collaborations

The Asheville Rites Project was a public performance collaboration between painter Molly Rose Freeman, dancer Garth Grimball, and musician Michael Libramento. In April, Molly installed a series of wall-sized panels at the RiverLink Sculpture and Performance Plaza in the River Arts District of Asheville, NC. Over the course of a month, she painted an abstract mural on them to act as a backdrop for a dance piece that Garth choreographed. Michael composed an original score for the piece, and it was played live during the performance. During the preparation time, I was privileged to assist Molly with the technical execution of the painting, as it was a project that I greatly believed in and had much joy in the painting process with Molly. The project was completely privately funded by local donors.

The performance took place on May 21, 2011 at 7pm and was free and open to the public.
